After I save my scanned images, I open Picasa. It automatically finds my new folder of scans:
I have other photo editing programs including Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, and the aforementioned PhotoStudio, among others, but I find Picasa the easiest to use for my TwinsCards scans.
Download Picasa free from Google here.
I double click on the first scan to view and edit it if necessary. This one looks good to me. You can see the size at the bottom of the screen is 375x525 pixels. I hit the right arrow to scroll through the images.
Look at this scan: It's slightly crooked. I can fix that by using the "Straighten" function under the "Basic Fixes" tab.
Much better. However, if you want to be really picky, you can see that the card isn't perfectly centered. So, I'll crop it.
I select "Crop Photo" and "5x7" because that's the output proportion we're looking for. When it looks about right, I select "Apply".
Looks much better, huh? Notice that the size is now 366x514 pixels. Still in the proportion of 5x7.
The other cards look pretty good, but this one is a little dark. It's naturally this way, but it might be hard to read on a screen, so, what the heck. I might not do anything to it, but for the purposes of illustration I'll lighten it up a bit.
I select the "Tuning" tab, then play with the fill light and highlights a bit until it looks good to me.
This card should be horizontal. Right-click it and select "Rotate Counterclockwise".
