When I am uploading the images to TwinsCards, I keep Picasa open so I can view a large image of the scans to identify the filename I want for uploading. Selecting the thumbnail view in your file folders works, too, but the images are sometimes too small for me to see the card number on the back, etc—because I'm old—so keeping Picasa open is handy for me.

When I'm finished editing all the cards I hit "Back to Library" and select the folder I'm working with. Usually I save all the cards from one set to a folder of that name, but these were a bunch of odd cards I grabbed for purposes of this tutorial, so let's just pretend the set is called "2007 July 18 scans". Then I select "Picture">"Batch Edit">"Sharpen", to sharpen all the images, which makes 'em look good.

Next I want to resize the scans so they are 500 pixels in the larger dimension (to conform to the TwinsCards format) and save all my edits. The images are different sizes, (either the 375x525 they were originally outputted at, or something smaller depending on how they were cropped—but are still in the same 5x7 proportion) and I want them all to be 357x500. Here's how to do it: Make sure the folder is selected and click on "Export" in the lower right corner. An export window will pop up. Select where you want the exported folder to go, indicate "Resize to: 500 pixels" (you have to type in the 500). I select an Image Quality of "maximum". Then hit "OK".

A duplicate of your file will show up in Picasa in the new location. I put the all edited files in a folder labeled "edited". Then I delete the original folder because I don't need it anymore. You can delete it right in Picasa by right-clicking on the folder and selecting "delete folder".
